Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Answers Inside Uploader ("the uploader") handles information when the Answers Inside channel owner authorizes it through Google OAuth.
Use of YouTube API Services
The uploader uses YouTube API Services (the YouTube Data API). By using the uploader you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Who uses the uploader
The uploader is a private tool. Its only user is the Answers Inside channel owner, who signs in with their own Google account. It has no other users and no public sign-up.
What the uploader accesses
With the permissions the owner grants (youtube.upload and youtube.force-ssl), the uploader:
- uploads the owner's own videos as private videos, with their title, description, tags, category, language, audience and content-disclosure settings, licence and embedding settings, thumbnail and captions;
- reads the owner's channel ID and name to confirm it is uploading to the correct channel;
- when the owner has chosen a playlist for a video, reads the owner's own playlist list to confirm that playlist exists, then adds the video to it (it never creates or deletes playlists);
- reads back the uploaded video's processing status, privacy status and caption tracks to confirm the upload succeeded.
It does not read other channels' data, comments, subscribers, analytics or viewer information, and it does not download videos.
How the information is used
This information is used only to upload the owner's videos and to verify each upload. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose, and it is not sold.
Storage and retention
The OAuth authorization is stored only on the owner's own computer, encrypted with the operating system's user-level encryption, and is used only for the owner's uploads.
For each upload the uploader keeps its own production record: the episode name, the upload date, checksums of the local files, and whether the upload checks passed or failed. These records are kept for the channel's production history.
Data returned by YouTube is kept for no longer than 30 days unless it is refreshed:
- The YouTube video ID of each upload is refreshed from YouTube at least every 30 days while the owner's authorization is active. It is deleted if the video no longer exists, is no longer on the Answers Inside channel, access has been revoked, or it cannot be refreshed within 30 days.
- All other data returned by YouTube (upload check details, status read-backs, caption IDs and upload session links) is deleted within 30 days and is not refreshed.
- Video and caption IDs in the uploader's activity log are removed after 30 days.
Sharing
Data is sent only to Google/YouTube as needed to perform the uploads the owner requested. It is not shared with anyone else.
Cookies and device information
The uploader is a desktop tool; it does not use cookies and does not collect device information. This website does not use cookies or analytics.
Revoking access and deleting data
The owner can revoke the uploader's access at any time on the Google security settings page: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. The uploader checks its authorization every time it runs and also uses a weekly scheduled authorization check when the owner’s computer is available. If a scheduled check is missed, it runs at the next available opportunity. If access has been revoked, that check deletes the stored authorization and all stored data returned by YouTube.
Deletion of the stored data can also be requested at any time by writing to support@answersinsidehq.com; it is completed within 7 days. Deleting data stored by the uploader does not delete or change anything on YouTube. Videos on YouTube are managed or deleted in YouTube Studio.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated if the uploader's functionality or data practices change, and the effective date above will change with it.
